Why Eric Cartman must die

As those who have read the blog probably know already, I like South Park. However, at least one character on the show tends to be annoying. That would be Eric Cartman, who is apparent popular and beloved among fans despite being such a fat lump of cancer.

Yes, there things he says and does that are funny, but there is a lot about him that irks me. From the beginning, besides being a Nazi punk, he was just an overweight brat who puppy-dog-eyes his over nurturing and easily-deceived mother into giving him whatever he wants, and she doesn’t do it at first, he either continues pulling the baby doll eyes or screams like a brat (like in the second episode “Weight Gain 4000”).

Also, everyone actually hates him, but he somehow manages to manipulate almost everyone and convince them to go along with everything he does, which I notice in “Breast Cancer Show Ever”. He’s a complete poser too. Whatever he believes, he most likely doesn’t actually believe, and always comes across as a poseur. Staying on his manipulative nature, more recently in “Ginger Cow”, Cartman seems to know that the red-headed cow was a fake, but it caused peace in the Middle East, and knowing Kyle wants there to be peace in the Middle East, he manipulates him into making Kyle his slave and do horrible and humiliating things for him.

And no matter how many times Cartman does evil and horrible things, and no matter how big an asshole he is, the show will always spare him, always forgive and embrace his ways as the fat asshole he is, and always find a way to save his ass or just ignore that anything ever happened.

This character needs to be killed off . In the older series, he might not have been so bad, but he could still be grating. In newer seasons on the other hand, he just seems to get worse and worse. As the principal Victoria implied when describing cancer (being a breast cancer survivor after all), he is a fat evil lump, and you can’t wish him away, ignore him, or reason with him. You have to oppose him. You have to eliminate him. And that’s what we should be doing, finally getting rid of that fat lump once and for all.

Why South Park is the best of the big three cartoon comedies

I have been watching The Simpsons, Family Guy, and South Park for a few years now, and I can safely say that South Park kicks the asses of Simpsons and Family Guy.

South Park is much cleverer than both of them and doesn’t cave in to popular liberal politics or political correctness. Simpsons and Family Guy will make fun of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, but will treat Barack Obama like some untouchable rock star saint. South Park isn’t oriented towards the idea of a family sitcom, unlike the other two, which makes it much more original. Which is why it could never air on Fox.

The Simpsons started out as very preachy, then became much more charming but still clever, but eventually it underwent a slow and steady decline where its charm and wit degrades further and further, and this process is still happening to the show. Family Guy was good in the old days, very funny and had its own kind of class. But ever since the show got cancelled in 2002, and then resurrected in 2005, Family Guy started getting less and less clever, and eventually less and less funnier, and all the while more preachy, more of a random mess of random references and “jokes”, more of an obvious and unfunny sounding board for Seth McFarlane’s pathetic politics, and more needlessly violent, eventually to the point of being more gross out. Both of them now have brighter graphics and voice acting, and it’s now unappealing. On top of that, Family Guy is little more than an adult Simpsons rip-off.

By contrast, South Park started as its own unique thing, and it was all about subverting cultural norms and ideas, right down to kids who were foul little angels who you could love at the same time. It’s still clever, and though the graphics have gotten better, the voice acting slightly different, and there are some annoying aspects here and there, the show hasn’t gotten any dumber. Yes, the show uses shock violence in its newer seasons, but unlike Family Guy, the show is clever enough to make up for it. Really, the only problem is that they caved into pressure to stop airing four of their episodes rather than fight for freedom of expression, but they seem to have made fun of themselves for it, and may be picking back up from it. Not to mention, they managed to get their sweet revenge for Isaac Hayes’ betrayal of the show, in the form of the very funny “The Return of Chef”.

Not to mention, South Park had a good movie and a really cool album (the Chef Aid album).

And that’s why I prefer South Park over Simpsons and Family Guy.

Hypocrisy and Political Correctness has set South Park on a road to ruination

Anyone here like South Park? I do, but I don’t like South Park’s creators or its broadcaster very much. Matt Stone and Trey Parker were visionaries back when South Park started, with its cute but definitely not cuddly third-grade ensemble, its vicious mockery of the hypocrisy of the adults around them, its attacking of politics and religion in general, and, most importantly, its disregard for political correctness to the point that it deconstructs the very idea behind it: the idea that if you act or don’t act a certain way, or say certain things, then you are a horrible person. That mantra secretly upheld in so-called liberal thought was always treated as bullcroc in South Park, right? Well, not quite. In fact, Comedy Central, and the creators of South Park to an extent, has been cowtowing to threats from both Muslim extremists and, of all people, Tom Cruise. The same guys who stood for fredom of speech constantly had put a black eye on their own values and can never go back. Made worse when Isaac Hayes decided to choose his faith in Scientology over his meaningful role in South Park. After that, it seemed the show could only go one way: down. Ironically, they made a two-part episode called Cartoon Wars, which talks about censorship and its follies, after personally doing the same with Super Best Friends, Trapped in the Closet, 200, and 201. Doesn’t that seem kinda pathetic to you, especially when after that they still haven’t decided to stand up for themselves and re-syndicate those episodes?
