The media has no real power

My brother and I often argue about mass media, and how much power it really has. Often I hear of the media influencing the masses into believing or doing whatever, but I find that this is not an indication of mass media having any power. In actuality, it is a sign that we have given it power, and that still doesn’t mean it actually has any power.

Think about it, the media’s so-called power is based entirely on the acceptance and ignorance of the masses, it is based on the masses not thinking for themselves. That’s not real power. Real power, and real strength, comes from you. It comes from within. It is your will. It is proven to the world by you. Things like mass media have no such strength. Any “power” they have relies on whether other people accept them or believe they have any power. Thus, they are without true power.
