Do you honestly think governments work for you?

One idea perpetuated by believers of democracy is the idea that the government works for its people, or should. Little do most people is that government has never served your interests. Ever.

The only reason they do anything for you is to stop you from complaining, or to make it seem like they care. After all, if they didn’t, nobody would support them. The majority of us are effectively brainwashed into believing that government is on our side, that they care, and that they exist in our best interests. But they don’t. They exist to control other people’s lives and make money off of people, and most of what they do is either effectively useless or outright morally wrong.

And yet here we are, trying to make ourselves think that government has ever worked for us. That idea hinges solely on the false promises made by politicians and other political figures, whether one realizes this or not. And if they have ever done anything for us, or worked for us, it is because they either do it to make it seem like they care, or because we somehow forced them too on pain of continual disapproval by the public and even rioting.
