On weekends, I can’t help but think I could have better in life. If you’re an ordinary person like me, then mundane life sucks. As I observe, it’s full of cultural emptiness. The ads you have to deal with are pathetic, or at least in the UK. Seriously, if you live in the UK, go watch TV during the ad breaks and you’ll see what I mean. If it’s true outside the UK, fill me in on it. Not only that, but TV itself is almost all garbage. Talk about oversaturation of media. Sky has over 1000 channels and there’s still nothing on.
And then, there’s the fact that most mundane life is boring. You’re expected to act like an “adult”, and when you try to reclaim your youth or pursue happiness, you’re looked down upon and shunned as an “overgrown kid”. And you don’t have a lot of choice in mundane life. You’re left to just accept it, which leaves room for the danger of embracing it. Then you get old, and you become even worse if you allow yourself to.
Don’t get me wrong. Life in general doesn’t suck, just the mundanity we have to deal with.
